The Differences Between SEO, PPC, and SMM

SEO, PPC, & SMM are three very different types of website promotion services.  SEO Services generally require a long term approach and will ultimately give you the largest return on your investment.  Once your site is well optimized and is ranking high in the most popular search engines, you could draw hundreds or thousands of people to your site for free.  It should be noted that this type of website promotion does require seo maintenance to stay at the top of the search engines.

PPC (Pay Per Click Advertising) is different than SEO Services because it is a way to draw traffic to your site immediately.  At its most basic, you can start a PPC campaign in 15 minutes.  Another major difference is that PPC typically requires a much larger budget than SEO.  While a less competitive keyword can cost less than $.25 per visitor, more competitive keywords usually cost at least $3 to $5 and can rise to over $10 per visitor.

SMM is called Social Media Marketing because the goal is to build a vast online community of loyal friends and customers. The way to do this is through popular social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. SMM will not always affect or increase your natural rankings on the search engines but rather the goal is to drive targeted traffic to your website through these social media channels.
